Iman Shumpert has been rapping since he was a fledgling, so when asked about other “NBA rappers” he wasn’t very impressed. For example, Shumpert had this to say about one of the NBA’s most notable MCs-Metta World Peace, “Oh, he’s horrible. He is horrible.”Shumpert has a theory, “There’s a difference between guys who rap and ‘NBA rappers’.”In the video, Shumpert takes a moment to explain why “NBA rappers” are so bad and why he proclaims himself the best rapper in the league.

The 2,300-ton, 218-foot vessel is the fourth warship to be named after Nebraska’s largest city, according to the Navy.It was built by Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama. It is the eleventh ship of its kind.“Omaha and her sister ships represent an investment in our nation, the result of the partnership between the Department of the Navy and our shipbuilding industry. American craftsmen in Mississippi, Alabama and around the country have made USS Omaha possible,” Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer said. “The (littoral combat ship) fills a unique mission for the U.S. Navy and as these remarkable ships continue to be produced out of our shipyards, they represent an increase in our readiness and lethality.”The principal address was delivered by Joseph Robert “Bob” Kerrey, a former governor of Nebraska, former U.S. senator and Medal of Honor recipient from his time as a Navy SEAL during the Vietnam War.Omaha philanthropist Susie Buffett will serve as honorary sponsor of the ship, a traditional role that will include her giving the order to “man our ship and bring her to life,” the Navy said.Buffett’s father, Warren Buffett, Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts and Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert will also attend, the Omaha World-Herald reported.“Since Omaha is located far from the ocean, it is particularly gratifying to have the Navy name a ship for my hometown,” Susie Buffett told CNBC. “I’m honored to serve as the sponsor of the USS Omaha. We hope to create a lasting bond between Omaha, Nebraska and the men and women who will serve on this magnificent ship.”The ship, which is powered by two gas turbine engines, two main propulsion diesel engines and four water jets can sail at speeds over 40 knots.Commander Michael Toth, of Ridgeville, Ohio, leads a core crew of 70 officers and enlisted personnel on the ship, according to the Navy. In the past, Allure magazine has turned to its Web site as the entry point for readers to participate in its annual advertiser-sponsored giveaway, which features hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of beauty products. This year, the Condé Nast title tapped Microsoft’s High Capacity Color Barcode technology to feature nearly 40 customized 2-D barcodes in the August issue. The result? The tags, which when scanned by smartphones allowed readers to enter the 159 giveaways, were scanned 444,572 times. Microsoft and Allure claim it is the largest tag campaign to date. “Editorial supported the partnership in an organic way,” says John Fauller, Condé Nast’s director of print to mobile solutions. “Over 35 pages of the August issue featured tags, which were incorporated into design. There was also a master tag of the contest calendar in the back of the magazine and on Allure.com.”“When done right, technology is a service, not a gimmick,” says Allure editor-in-chief Linda Wells. “What we did was use tags to give readers what they want—a fast, easy and more convenient way to participate in our giveaways.”After scanning a tag, readers were asked to provide certain personal information. Fuller says Allure utilized a feature called Device ID that “lowered the hurdle for repeat performances as entry information was linked to the phone, eliminating the need to re-register.” In addition to providing value to the reader, Allure managed to capitalize on the initiative beyond just partnering with exclusive sponsor L’Oreal. The magazine says it saw a subscription conversion rate of 3.24 percent, and that 34 percent of readers who scanned the tags opted in for news and other marketing materials.

Sci-Tech NASA’s Hubble telescope delivers stunning new space pictures Comment Tags Share your voice 1 13 Photos In the constellation Cassiopeia. NASA/JPL-Caltech/UCLA Researchers at the University of Bonn in Germany and the Russian Academy of Sciences have spotted an incredibly unusual and rare star in the middle of a cloud of gas around 10,000 light years from Earth. The star, dubbed J005311, appears to have risen from its cosmic grave after two dead stars collided with one another in the constellation Cassiopeia. The findings, published in Nature on May 21, reveal the nature of the exotic zombie star and its unusual properties. The team discovered the bizarre object using data from NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) space telescope and subsequently observed it using a ground-based telescope at Russia’s Special Astrophysical Observatory. At the end of a small star’s lifetime, when all of its fuel has been exhausted, it turns into a “white dwarf” — a tiny, dense, dead star. For the most part, a white dwarf is done for after that. However, researchers at Bonn examined the radiation emitted by the strange star and found that it was lacking in both hydrogen and helium, usually present in a white dwarf. The infrared nebula of J005311. Vasilii Gvaramadse/Moscow University Due to J005311’s unusual emission signal, the researchers suspect what they’ve detected is the result of a cosmic fusion between two white dwarfs that circled one another for billions of years.”Such an event is extremely rare,” explains Gotz Gräfener, co-author on the study, in a press release. “There are probably not even half a dozen such objects in the Milky Way, and we have discovered one of them.”Generally, collisions of white dwarfs end up in huge stellar explosions, known as supernovae. But J005311 didn’t explode. Instead, it was reanimated and started burning again. It shines about 40,000 times brighter than our sun, has a strong magnetic field and its stream of stellar winds are moving at 16,000 kilometers per second (approx. 9950 miles per second). At approximately 360,000 degrees Fahrenheit (200,000 degrees Celsius), it’s also incredibly hot. What fate awaits the new star? Death, naturally. The exceptional event has only delayed its demise by a few thousand years. Its second run at life will be over once it has, again, exhausted all its fuel. At that point it will collapse into a tiny star and explode.
